Lately, I’ve been feeling the urge to share the the behind the scenes of life as a wife, photographer, and entrepreneur. As a photographer and business owner I tend to share only the joys and picture perfect Instagram posts. The reality though is that life isn’t perfect, in fact, life tends to be one giant adventure. Somedays the adventure is full of fun and excitement and somedays the adventure takes you down a dark and scary path, but this is what makes it an adventure. Adventures would never be exciting if the path was all good times and sunshine. No, what makes life full on this earth is the ups and downs, the lessons we learn daily, and the strength we find through Christ to press onward.
As J.R.R. Tolkien once said, “A safe fairyland is untrue to all worlds.” Many times we see others and think that they must be living a perfect, fairytale life. It can be so easy to start to despise our own life because it’s not as easy or perfect as someone else’s. I know I’ve done this and will still slip into it at times. But what we don’t see are the struggles, the messy home, and the craziness that others are going through too. Whenever I find myself slipping into this feeling, I look around and count my blessings. I point out the things that are good in my life. I look at what makes my life story special and then I celebrate that part of it, even if it’s not perfect!
Today, I walked around our home and documented the REAL behind the scenes. The messy kitchen, the laundry that needs to be folded, the bags that need to be unpacked from the weekend visiting family, and my man working hard. This is the real and the RAW. This is life–and this LIFE is grand. <3
